Remake is on

shareCool. I want either Alicia Witt or Laura Prepon as Red Sonja (though this would require Laura to go back to red hair which would be GREAT); they look like they're built well enough for it and both look dead sexy with red hair.
shareI think Jessica Biel would make a better candidate. She has a more athletic build than Laura Prepon.
shareBiel strikes me as being too snitty though.
shareThe original was awesome, a remake is not required. However, Beil is a good choice, Scarlett Johansen and Kiera Knightly would also suffice.
shareWhat about:
Sarah Alexander
Claire Forlani
Jennifer Connelly

Jennifer Garner
shareJennifer Garner would be good on account of her -decent- action "acting", but she's built like a slightly feminine man, which is no good. Kiera Nightley or whatever her name is, is a much better choice. All the other chicas mentioned here is ACTRESSES and has no concept of action whatsoever. It would just be another Æon Flux and Underworld where the main character is completely RUBBISH at action scenes and has no talent for action acting AT ALL.
shareI think Jessica Garner being built as more masculine would be a good reason why to hire her over Knightley. Have you seen knightley lately? She looks like she needs an anchor just to hold herself down. Unless she plans on eating and lifting some serious weights she'll look nothing like the curvaceous wonder that was Red Sonja from the comics. Garner on the other hand would make a very plausible warrior woman.
shareI think Kristanna Loken would make the perfect Red Sonja- the athletic ability plus the acting!
shareJennifer Garner....bluhhh

patricia tallman?
KUDOS, perfect choice, not super well known and yet alot of the comic book nerds who watched babylon 5 would show up for the film.
She wouldnt be hard to get money-wise, and would probably do a good job, remember Sonja was a muscular, tall woman, so any man cast as her co-star would have to be danny devito, or my cousin vinny.
-- Again - KUDOS to you tsyrjamaki!
What about Rosie O'Donnel...or even Oprah...sure they don't fit into Hollywood's little mold of whatever the mold is they should fit into....but hey....I bet Rosie could kick some ass.
You know, they shouldn't have set their phasers to "miss." - Mike Nelson
But Jessica Biel can't act her way out of a paper bag. Laura Prepon sounds like a fit for the part.
Laura Prepon please

Ten years later and the movie is still not here, lol. It's been in the development hell. Rose McGowan was supposed to play Sonja at first, but it fell through. I think given the current popularity of female hero characters, like Wonder Woman that is coming up soon for example. I can say with high probability that Sonja will make it to the big screen one day.

HaaaaaaHAAAAAA Ha! You are all wrong. I know who is will be. I learned from a certain member of the Executive Production Staff, however I have learned this in confidence and will not disclose my secret. I will thoroughly enjoy your guesses from now until the information is leaked.
"Oh, he's bluffing..he's full of *beep*
yippie.. lets hope the remake is better than this
shareA new release will be Ok. depending from which source it will be based on. If the makers want a flick faithful to Red Sonja's literary origins, I think in Kate Beckinsale... somehow, her character in Stephen Sommer's "Van Helsing" looked almost exactly the way I used to imagine her since I read the tale from Robert E. Howard.
Now, if they gonna stay closer to the Marvel Comics adaptation of the character, a redheaded Diora Baird would make it. However, after series like "Xena: Warrior princess" the stereotype seems a bit tired.
