A much underrated film

Debra Bryrne absolutely slays Matt Dillon in this film and she was nominated for an AFI (Australian) Award. No doubt, Heroes is a great song, brilliantly sung by Debra...oddly, she has never spoken about the film. I think it was a bitter experience, but she is a wasted talent, as far as movies are concerned.

Rather, a vastly overrated review for a universally panned film! LOL! While enjoyable, not one educated movie goer would give this film anything above 2-stars. A mish-mosh script and miscasting being the prime reasons. Debra Byrne was old enough to be Dillon's mother. The original score was perhaps the best part of this movie. As someone who has always been partial to Dillon's quirky, rebellious quality, I was able to overlook the poorly written script, and focus solely on Dillon's convincing performance. Otherwise, this was a forgettable film.

Quite! This is the only movie for which I requested a refund (and I've seen many a turkey in my day). This movie sucks so hard it'd suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

Debra Byrne was born in 1957, so she was 28 then. I just checked her age on IMDb, I thought she was 35 - at least - because she looked much older. And I don't think that was only due to her hairdo.

Perhaps the whole thing worked better on stage (it was based on a play), as a film it does not so well.
