The real reason Herbert Hates woman

I've see the third movie and read about the others 2,and, my opinion is that the reason West hates megan and the others is not his homoerotic atracction to his partners, is just that they're a bunch of *beep* b*tches, who distract his parterns making them dogs...

If I could be inside the movie I'll just slap Megan, that girl is a stupid, emotional, not very brigth freak, who sees Herbert as a monster and not the genius he really is.

Who's with me?

reply

OK,it looks like nobody's with me

reply

Actually, I think more people agree with you than you think. The mojority of those who don't refuse to beleive that Herbert has anything against women at all.
Though from what I've heard it's better to have seen the first two movies and read about the third one.

herbert views them as a distraction yes he wants to work 24/7 and not be bothered, if u saw the deleated scene in 1 he shoots up a weak solution of reagent so that he doesnt sleep so he can work all night.

I think he didn't like the women for the same reason...He's jealous and wants Dan's attention for himself. Meg was a character that was a bit annoying but her actions were understandable and she served her needed purpose. I mainly hated Dr. Hill and Dean Halsey for rejecting Herbert's genius...sure Dr. Hill later called him a genius...but he still shunned him and got him kicked out of school.

That's not my problem, I sleep now.

My impression was:

Herbert doesn't hate women. Herbert hates everyone. He sometimes is a bit amiable to his lab partners only because he needs them to help with his research. The only thing Herbert cares about is his research, and he hates all people who in any way interfere with it.

reply

I'm with Navaros in a way. I think Herbert hates anyone who isn't useful to his research which is all he really cares about in life.

reply

Well he Combs says in the commentary that West is always busy and doesn't like people slowing him down. Thats why he's such a prick. And women slow you down.

I actually like the fact that he doesn't seem to have an interest in women, nor in anyone else not useful to him. And I'm saying this as a girl. Besides, Dan Cain always has a hottie with him, so in one respect, we've got the aspect of "beautiful-woman-needed-to-make-movie-interesting-to-some" covered.

And I don't care if dr.West doesn't like women. I still think he is nerdy sex on legs.

"Nervous? -Yes. First time? -No, I've been nervous before."

In my remake idea, it ties in with his mother, who also serves as the source for most of his emotional baggage and so forth.

Thank YOU! Many people say it's a bad idea, but I don't think so. I'd love to share my ideas, but I need them for what may be the screenplay, if not the treatment, that I may end up writing.

First of all, screw the sequels.

Second, slapping Megan is a stupid thing to do. You certainly have no right to.

BUT, I agree with you that her character is poorly written, overly emotional, and not smart. That's one of the reasons I don't like the movie.

oh- well said... It would seem as though his lab partners have some genetic predisposition to becoming involved with meddlesome, self-serving, manipulative bi+ches. I probably have more contempt for the women in these films than Herbert does, and I am a woman. I'm with ya totally, killing Meg is just the start. I love the scene where Megan comes into the morgue and Herbert says, "That bitch!"

Detective... Thrill Me!

reply

Very Freudian to blame the mom.
I'm not Megan's biggest fan either. Far from it actually. But all of you should also watch the deleted scenes from Re-animator -- she's actually very intelligent and not as annoying in most of them.

Stop being so damn sexist. It isn't any woman's fault if a man is mean. It's his choice. We were given free will. And men impede a woman's work more than a woman impedes a man's.
