Did people actually take these movirs seriously back in the 80's?
And why did the serum have to look toxic-green? LOL

shareAudiences of the pre-90's were actually a bit brighter and could catch on to a movies tone rather quickly. Nowadays audiences are so used to being told what to like that they bring a checklist to every movie and if something varies from the norm they spend the whole time trying to decide what's going on rather than enjoying it on it's own merits.
And the toxic green color for the serum was great. I couldn't imagine it as anything else.
the serum reminded me of the Predator's blood
shareGreat answer.
shareYou don't really get comedy, huh?
shareIt's a dark comedy, so I kind of hope not.

Horror movies were better in the good old days.
shareThe short answer is NO!🐭
shareI first saw this film on VHS around 1985/86 when I was around 12/13 and saw it for what it was: a fantastically gory horror/comedy. It's not you take seriously, it's a film you watch and enjoy. Oh, and Jeffrey Combs is just fûcking awesome.

Three friends and I went to see it when it was new. We were all about 16-17. I recall pretty much everyone in the theater laughed when it was appropriate, which was fairly often. It was obviously a horror movie with a major infusion of comedy. Maybe very slightly less than Return of the Living Dead.
