Women eyebrows style?
I was watching this movie and remembered watching the same thing on the Hidden Fortress, does anyone know why the women wore their eyebrows like that?, was it some kind of social class statement or something?
shareIn 'Ran', the women wore painted eyebrows on their forehead. This was the style of the Heian era, along with the clothing they wear in this film. In the Heian era high eyebrows were considered beautiful so women used to shave off their borws and paint them on or, more commonly, dipped their thumbs into paint and smudged fake eyebrows onto their forehead.
As far as I am aware, no character in 'Hidden Fortress' does that, though teh actress Yuki-hime has impressive real eyebrows, but they are naturally in the natural place rather than the forehead.
