I watched this again and 30 years later it stands up today.
10/10.

I just watched the entire thing for the first time, start to finish. It was OK, but it was horribly edited with a much weaker screenplay and script compared to First Blood. First Blood holds up extremely well, but this does not, imo. And I have to disagree with other comments - I like Die Hard and T2 much better than this.
I remember everyone talking about the mud scene in this movie, but that whole sequence of kills seemed to just play out wrong with timing and flow of the movie. Way different then the natural progression of events from the first one.
But still, it's iconic.

Rambo II's editing techniques were revolutionary for action movies. Every film after it copied it to a certain extent. There'd be no T2, Die Hard etc without Rambo II (and First Blood).

Well, those techniques were used better in later movies, then! Haha. I always thought Rambo III was when they started getting ridiculous, but now I think it's Part II. I even enjoyed Rambo better than II and III. First Blood tops them all, though.

Watched this a year ago after about 20 years not watched. Cheesy but still enjoyable and not too dated.
So many cheesy cool scenes.
The final 'I want' scene with Trautman followed by the walk-off into the sun-set with the Frank Stallone song should be in all action movies. Period.
And who can forget the most terrifying scene in cinema history- the 'I'm coming to get you' scene.

I couldn't agree more. A person who previously said "a case can be made" is absolutely right. This movie is amazing on mythic proportions.
