Perhaps to emphasize his feminine, subordinate nature in an effort to distinguish him from Api, the "alpha" male, and therefore serve to increase tension in the love triangle? Or was it just weirdness?

Why not wear a slip. He thought he was the only living thing on the planet. I'm surprised he didn't just go nude.

The dude attempts suicide three times in the movie. He clearly isn't concerned with being confined by societal norms. He just acts.

I'm surprised he only wore the slip and didn't do something dirty in (with) it. That satin probably felt pretty good...
