Loved it

Just saw this for the first time, and I loved it. The script is completely genius, and the movie is a blast to watch. All of the characters were great, and the dialogue is top notch. I also loved the ending where Cecilia had to choose between the real life actor and his movie character. The ending did leave me kind of down though, as Cecilia missed her chance for love, and probably ended up back with her abusive husband. Any way, I wasn't a fan of Woody Allen prior to this (I hated Annie Hall, and found Small Time Crooks average), but this brilliant film makes me want to revisit those other two films, and also watch more of his movies. My final rating is a 10/10. It's the first one I've handed out in a pretty long time.

I love this film, too. I like the ending and think it's perfect... and definitely a downer, lol.

Can't really watch any of his other films, though.

Of course, we don't really know how far the fantasy extends. Is Gil any more real than Tom? Did Tom actually step down from the screen or was that Cecilia's vivid imagination? Has Cecilia been through this fantasy with other movies? Is the ukulele she holds at the end the one that Gil bought her, or is it one she's carried through many similar fantasies?

The answers don't matter, because the impact comes from the drama, not from explaining the details. What the movie asks you to believe is the emotions, not the facts or lack thereof.
