I like Mr. And Mrs. Smith, but it owes it very existence to Prizzi's Honor. THe question is would the average moviegoer know or remember a film from 20 years ago? Prizzi is the btter film.

Haven't seen the full version of Mr and Mrs Smith yet, but it seems to me that it mostly leans on action while Prizzi's Honor lans on acting. Prizzi's honor pleasantly surprised me, I think the 6,9 average it has on imdb is too low.

Are you kidding?? Prizzi's Honor is MUCH better than that dreck Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Actually, the former is a take-off of two Kathleen Turner movies: Prizzi's Honor and The War of the Roses--both of which are a million times better than Mr/Mrs. Smith. They are both better films because they never once compromise, whether in their dark humor or their subject matter. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is like The War of the Roses with machine guns and a happy ending--and you're going to tell me this is better?? P.S. she only missed shooting Charley in the end because he was anticipating her coming into the room to try and "ice" him. He moved in order to throw the knife, she shot where he HAD been sitting.

That's why you didn't like this movie- I'm sorry, but considering all the unlikely scenarios in Mr and Mrs Smith- that is a pretty weak reaon to dislike this movie. Also- it wasn't a letter opener- it was a dagger.
sharePrizzi's honour is my favourite black comedy. Superb settings, soundtrack, ensemble cast including John Randolph and Robert Loggia in memorable roles. Prizzi's hounour is a classic, M&MS absolute trash.

She loved him, so she missed deliberately. It’s a beautiful love story.

It saddens me how dimwitted and shallow the posters here are. This is a great dark comedy, with a cast who are at LEAST twice the cast of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, especially when both casts are compared from the perspective of 2022.
Prizzi's Honor, Mr and Mrs Smith was rubbish if you ask me.

People, you missed the point. While the basic idea of the film is the same, the theme and point of this movie is completely different. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is just a shoot 'em up romantic comedy, even if a well executed romantic comedy. But Prizzi's Honor is about exactly that: honor. It's about the depths a person would go to preserve their name, honor, pride, etc. And that's what is so brilliant about it. Because all along, you think it's just about these lovers turning against each other, when in actuality it's all about Anjelica Huston's character (notice that it's not "Prizzis' Honor" but "Prizzi's Honor..." singular, big difference). And you don't even know that until the last scene. That she orchestrated it all and she is the title subject of the film.
I like Mr. and Mrs. and Smith, but Prizzi's Honor shouldn't even be classified in the same breath. It's far superior and more intelligent to the most recent Pitt and Jolie blockbuster vehicle.
