Was watching This movie on U.K. TV yesterday early evening ( CH.5) - can't remember how often this was shown on this channel...i was so appauled to see many, many, MANY ( as Lassard would put it!!) scenes badly shortened , with some funny lines ( form Mauser, Mahoney, etc.) left out!!!!! anyone else saw this? i felt so sorry for those seeing this for the first time - had the other P.A. movies suffered like this?
shareI don't recall any of the later PA films being edited down. The films already had short enough running times. Im sure they did edit down 1 and 2 as there was nudity and some coarse language. In the case of the first 6 PA films, new footage was added for some of the television versions. You can read about them in the Alternate Versions section.
shareWhen a film is shown on TV, sometimes it is cut down severly due to length. I saw that with Dead Poets Society a few years back. It just goes to show you never to watch a film on commercial TV.

im thinking of buying 1& 2 as they are the best,well i should get 6 to. but anyway can you tell what police academy has that guy in the showers with his hands stuck to his head! Hilarious that was.....r these dvds uncut on the box set?

shareThe end credits on Police academy 4 were cut on a channel called ITV1 that we have in the U.K,when it was shown last week,just after the part with the skateboarders,which annoyed me as i like the citizens on patrol song,which was obviously cut short,as it continues abit after that bit,and i like the song Let's go to heaven in my car that comes on after it.It's annoying when they talk through credits aswell,saying what the next program is that's coming on.They should only announce the next program after the film has finished,such as just before the adverts.That's why i'd rather buy a film on video or dvd,and not record it on tv.I hate the way they edit things.The itv1 channel we have here usually edit things,where the other channels dont.Cant remmeber if anything else from PA4 was edited out though,i dont think it was.
Also,instead of editing the bad language,sexual scenes,violence,e.t.c,in films,why cant they just show them at an appropriate time ?.I've seen some films shown at ridiculous times which are inapproriate.
I'm not sure if any more PA films have been edited,been a while since i saw them on tv.I have the first film on dvd,and intend buying the rest of them,apart from 6 and 7,which i didnt really like.I watched 2,3,4,and 5 online recently.
Many of the commercial channels edit the film because its shown at the wrong time.
Its that man again!!
