Lou's mixed emotions about Mauser?

In one of the locker room scenes, Lou barks meanly at Mauser.

Then near the end of the movie, as Mauser is hanging upside down on a rope, Lou licks his face.

Anybody else catch this discrepancy?

yes i did realize that, well maybe the dog was in a bad mood in the locker room scene? :/

Yeah, I reckon that was it, Lou was a moody dog and realised in the end Mauser was a great guy!

Yeah, well, probably they did that at the end to be funny. Maybe Lou just did that to show Mauser he wasn't really a bad dog. I think he just growled at Mauser earlier because Mauser was making fun of his master Vinnie. If Mauser didn't do that, Lou wouldn't have done that.

It's not that Lou doesn't like Mauser, Mauser clearly is scared of dogs. Vinnie is also egging Lou on in the locker room scene and that's what makes him growl.
