I found the grocery store robbery a bit cheesy.

I love the Police Accademy movies, but I have to admit the robbery was a bit cheesy when the cashier was telling the gangsters they forgot their food stamps. Was it supposed to indicate that the employers of the supermarket were moronic?

It might have been better if they would have cut it out at the part when she shouts about the food stamps. What do you all think about this scene?

They're scared of them. They are nervous & when you get nervous around someone you fear may kill you, you start acting like a bitch & trying to be averly nice thinking it will help save your life.

Don't wander into abandend churches for Czakyr will grab you from underneath the watery grave.

Any scene that includes Sweetchuck being assaulted by someone is entertaining enough to ignore stupid dialogue.

I always hated the "food stamp" line and it makes me cringe everytime I hear it. Wish they cut that part out! As for the robbery itself I thought it was pretty cool.

Plus, I thought trading stamps had been discontinued since the early '70s.

you people are analysing...a POLICE ACADEMY film...??

reply

i thought that the checkout girl was so used to this sort of thing...people robbing the store every week that it became part of her job...how are we to know that someone in the gang robbed there and collected foodstamps

Maybe it was a bit cheesy, oh well. At least we get to see Pac-Man cereal when Sweechuck finds the Fruit Loops! I remember that cereal, I used to eat it lots when I was really young, heh heh.

I guess it is supposed to be a joke that they are walking out with all the food and stuff and the cashier says that. Also, the actress who played that role I think was related to Jerry Paris, the director of the film.

Update: That was Jerry Paris' daughter. His son played Bud Kirkland.

I love that scene, it's so funny !

I did like the grocery store robbery scene but I also thought the part where the clerk shouts out them forgetting their food stamps was a little annoying

reply

It wasn't exactly a "robbery" in the way I'd put it. I felt they were just shopping.

reply

@stevenackerman69 Shopping generally involves the exchange of money for goods. If that wasn't a robbery, I don't what was!

reply

Okay, so to the Scullions it was shopping. Are you happy now?

reply

I think what is also funny is that they are throwing stuff into their carts and half the stuff falls on the floor! They aren't very good with aim, are they?

reply

@Elmware The robbery was a bit cheesy, but then, so was the whole movie.

I liked the stamps gag. It reminded me of the scene in Airplane! where the passengers are jumping off onto the emergency slide and the air hostess is telling them to, "Have a nice day."

I can't believe I'm reading this. The whole GD series is the definition of ultra cheese. You found one scene to be a bit cheesy??? This must be a joke.
