Life as an 80's summer camp kid and teen compared to now

Today's kids at camp probably have one hour of unstructured time if they're lucky and it's probably closely supervised. Can you imagine camp managers and counselors letting kids go into the woods for unstructured time now? Hell no, God forbid they might start jacking off! Or bring a girl there with them if they're really slick!

And a boy writing articulate and poetic letters to his family? With the supposedly cool and street smart kid reading them with no problem? Do today's kids even know how to read other than text-speak?

And Nancy McKeon playing her usual snotty self! My God, girls were such bitches back then! Sluts were a minority and were rarely part of the white suburban culture.

This was filmed at the summer camp where my husband and his siblings went to camp. They used area kids as extras. The camp is still there and my own kids have gone there too. I never went to camp as kid and kinda sad I missed the experience.
