When will they release the Perry Mason TV Movies???

Subject says it all... With 36 of them, Universal (I think they're the one's who own the rights) could release them all in a 6 disc set (or 3-4 discs in 2 volumes). Worked for Paramount and the Columbo 2-hour movies.

They might be waiting until the releases for the original series are complete. I certainly enjoyed PERRY MASON RETURNS for the first time since 1985 - Burr's idea for a longer format (he suggested it during the original show's run) was a sound one: It allowed for more complexity in plot and characters. Of course the reunion of Della and Perry brought a lump to my throat this time around. It was also nice to see Richard Anderson (Lt. Steve Drumm on the original series) around for the reunion.

As volume 1 of the movies (containing 6 of them) was released in December so you were correct that Paramount waited until getting the TV series out.

By my estimation, there will be a total of 5 volumes.

They're up to the second set of 6 films now, according to Amazon. Love the films and I hope to get them when I can.

They are releasing the Murder She Wrote and Columbo movies so I really hope that these will be next because most of them are fantastic.

I'd love for these to be released on DVD. This was my first experiance of Perry Mason (granted I missed the movies first time around and as such I also missed the series) I am now getting into the first series of The TV show proper. I can offer up some furthur info some of them are avliable on VHS on Amazon. You will need a VCR to view it on

According to this site:

There were 30 TV movies in all.

The ones released on DVD in 4 volumes of 6 TV movies each, under the title "Perry Mason Movie Collection" (available at amazon and probably elsewhere) are:

Perry Mason Movie Collection (some of the latter ones have another actor/character substituting for Perry Mason)

The Case of the Notorious Nun May 25, 1986
The Case of the Shooting Star November 9, 1986
The Case of the Lost Love February 23, 1987
The Case of the Sinister Spirit May 24, 1987
The Case of the Murdered Madam October 4, 1987

Volume 2

The Case of the Reckless Romeo May 5, 1992
The Case of the Heartbroken Bride October 30, 1992
The Case of the Skin-Deep Scandal February 19, 1993

The ones still unreleased on DVD, as far as I know, are:

The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host May 21, 1993
The Case of the Killer Kiss November 29, 1993
The Case of the Wicked Wives December 17, 1993
The Case of the Lethal Lifestyle May 10, 1994
The Case of the Grimacing Governor November 9, 1994
The Case of the Jealous Jokester 1995

If there were 36 instead of 30 films, perhaps someone could find a link to the other 6?

There were 30 of them. You got the number right. Finally got the dvd set through Amazon. Was around $40. Worth it.
