I just watched the end of this film on cable. It shows David Berkowitz being arrested in what looks like late winter. Berkowitz was caught in August 1977.

yes, it looks like most of the film was shot in winter which probably had more to do with the shooting schedule, because after "Summer of Sam" you only think about the heat of the summer when the shooting spree actually went on longer than that.
