Reminded me a bit cold mountain and the English patient

I just this movie yesterday and I liked it a lot but it reminded me a lot to the English patient and cold mountain.

If the credit titles would have never announced. Too much that it was a Sydney Polllack film I'd say this is an Anthony Minghela film

I agree. Its no wonder that they were the producing partners and friends. The English Patient especially reminds me of UOA a lot. Minghella was my hero; he made three of my all time favorite movies: The English Patient, Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr Ripley.

After seeing this film recently for maybe the 3rd time since it was released in 1985 I was thinking that yes, it is similar to The English Patient in that it has something of an "epic" aspect to it. I don't think many movies are made like this anymore -- growing up there were movies like Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia that perhaps can be considered epic-like also. Maybe it's the sweeping vistas of landscape in these films along with the focused romance (altho not in Lawrence of Arabia) that makes me think this.
