i am a great fan of kusturica`s work. i have just found "when father was away on business" but i have no subtitles and i cannot say that my serbian is that good.

All of his movies that you can rent through the Netfix are subtitled. We have found only three of kusturica's movies in US (through Netflix) - "Do you remember Dolly Bell", "Underground" and "When the father was away on business". We just love his movies. Does anybody knows where in US we can find his other movies - like "Black Cat, White Cat", "Arizona Dream", movie about Gypsies - forgot the name and whatever else he made. Thanks

This movie is not in Serbian, but in Serbo-Croatian or Bosnian as it is called today. You wont hear a single sentence spoken in Serbian here. Only some Russian towards the end, when the Russian doctor appears. He speaks a kind of mixture of Russian and SerboCroatian.

To be precise, call it "Stokavian" (Stokavski). Or you could simply call it Serbian because all of the people there are Serbian, just with different religions, and they are living on Serbian land. But that's another war for another time.
