faulkner influence

Great movie! It reminded me a lot of William Faulkner's novels, especially Absalom, Absalom. Call it a Southern Gothic with a twist of papaya. Or should we say...Tropical Gothic? It makes me wonder how pervasive Faulkner's influence on Latin American writers must be.

Can anybody recommend other movies like this?
