There are too many problems with this movie.

spoilers:

- Gideon is creepy. Harry Dean Stanton plays it off like he's some killer just waiting to kill the kids.

- The mother doesn't get too concerned with Gideon suddenly appearing. She doesn't even seem concerned when her daughter mentions that there is some guy named Gideon who tells her things.

- About 40 minutes in, the parents are going for a walk down the street at night. Their kids are sleeping alone at home and the parents just continue to walk down the street almost unaware that someone could easily enter their house.

- I'm assuming this movie takes place in America. At one point there is an obvious Canadian flag in the background.

- The mother's reaction to her husband getting shot was almost non existent.

- When the police try to track down the shooter, the shooter's car goes into the river with the kids in the back seat. At no point do the police attempt to go into the river. They didn't even need to jump off the bridge, there was a clear path to walk down.

- If Gideon was able to save the kids from the car because he knew where they were, how come he was unable to save their father? Moreso, couldn't he have saved the kids before the shooter drove off with them?

- The kids' reaction to their dad dying was pathetic. It was a borderline "aw, shucks".

- So the father returns from the dead. Where do people think his body went? Are there coroners wondering how a body could just disappear?

- The police never questioned the mother about the shooting. She went home the same day.

- The whole Gideon storyline doesn't fit in with the rest of the film.

I liked Gideon. I thought he was a great angel.

Just saw this again and I still stand by everything I said here.

I agree with everything you wrote. Except Gideon.

The part of him being creepy?

reply

He was the best Angel on film EVER!

Loved the dark trench coat, the hat and his deep voice.
