The last scene with Redl
I've seen coutless military suicide sceens in films. The shot, the end.
This one however seemed devestatingly realistic. The moment when Redl is putting on his coat he starts that angry sobbing, and after that then he behaves like an animal driven into a corner.
Very sad moment, but phantastic scene. Very effective and powerful.
A slow but very dignified movie. 9/10. Brandauer is the shining main actor, but Armin Müller-Stahl steals the scenes with his potrait of the somehow charming buth ruthless Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
