Correct aspect ratio?

According to IMDB, the aspect ratio is supposed to be 1.85. But the Anchor Bay DVD is presented in 1.37. One or two shots do appear to be framed rather tight, but generally I can't see any obvious cases where information is clearly missing from the sides. I also noticed that one of the production companies was Austrian Television, so maybe the film was shot in 1.37 and matted off for theatrical showings. Does anyone have any definite information about this?
