i've read the natlamp oc + stiggs stories-find it here( see link)

LINK FOR THE ORIGINAL STORY ON NATLAMP.COM http://www.nationallampoon.com/nl/02_fb/ocstiggs/02_sbocs.asp

i've read them again and again, and they are still as funny as they were in 1982- the mind roasting summer- oct. 1980- an entire issue written by Tod Caroll, a genius. and there's the 1981 gash report on all their sexual conquests of that year-hilarious- plus a couple others my sleep deprived brain can't think of- i knew it would make the best movie ever, but i was dissapointed. the tone was wrong, especially for the schwab family- bad casting- ah well, nothings perfect.

Thats right Altman marches to a differant drummer so to NatLamp
ergo the "tone".
Having read the original story and further exploits,[I have the
original issue of NatLamp-I bought it the month it came out-guess
that makes me old.Oh yeah got the vacation issue also.]I cant say
that I was fully pleased with the movie. But in having read the short
story I was able to discern the directors influence. No book or short
story ever makes a sucessful transition to film. They either have too
many omissions/compressions or are overtly rambling. That said the movie
has it's moments and isnt a total wash out.

But then I would watch any movie that Dennis Hopper is in !!!!!
His cameo makes it worthwhile man.

I like your style.
The pics are in the NatLamp mags (var editions).
When you watch the movie versions of NatLamps stories you have to
suspend your dis-belief. Ha Ha!
Just like anything you read or see originally thats made into a "show"
your preconceptions of the visuals should not obscure the story.
Thats where thinkers & followers diverge.

Thanks for listening to an old man, whose dirty; I'm
gonna have a shower now- bin doin yard work an stuff.

The NatLamp stories were ROFL funny. The movie ruined the ethos.
