Why do I have the feeling that a LOT more people would see and applaud this movie if it featured two gay men instead of two gay women?

I liked it,but it was uncomfortable to watch when she was being raped-but I loved their relationship.That is love,sacrifing your beliefs and putting yourself in danger for the person you love.
