Brilliant

Being a scouser and an orange girl I really enjoyed this film. The thick urban decay, the harsh accents and the chill in the air and in the characters was very identifiable.

Boy, I watched it again last night and had a little cry, just something about.. well, if any one else would like to join in here I will finish my tale :)

Fyi, Bernard Hill, yes Theoden King (LOTR TT / ROTK) is in this film, I wonder if he is still proud of it?

A masterpiece of cinematography and story, telling of urban Liverpool in the middle 80's.

Not being a Scouser, not being a girl and definitely not being Orange had precisely no bearing on my enjoyment of this minor masterpiece. And a good job too, eh? Good art grasps universal themes. Being a fan of wonderful films is all that is necessary to embrace this little gem from Britain's little 80s golden age. Unlike 'aspart', I don't have an old grainy copy on VHS (you lucky b**stard!). In fact, I've not seen it since it came out. But it's still etched on my soul.

Ah, the days when Joanne Whalley was the girl most likely to, Bernard Hill was on the up and up, and the god-like Ray McAnally was untouchable. If I was asked which one film I wanted to see on DVD this may well be it.

Update: Got it on VHS now! Whoopee!

The lion and the calf shall lie down together, but the calf won't get much sleep.

Yes. One of the VERY best movies.

Ray Macanally was amazing. If only Hollywood could make just one film half as good as this.....

An outstanding film for both Celtic and Rangers fans if you know what I mean!
