I miss montages

The montage is a real lost art today. I miss the days of cheesy rock songs pumping you up as our hero sharpens his skills so that he can *circle the one that applies*; defeat the bully [jock, hood, Russian Karate enforcer], win the big game [match, event, contest], get the girl [cheerleader, sorority girl, girl next-door]. I can't recall the last time I saw a cool, a$$ kicking montage in a movie.

So, what is your favorite movie montage off all time? What about your favorite movie montage song? Create your own montage! What would the scenario be? What song would you use?

it would be a full blown remake of NRNS -
this movie officially kicks anus and needs to be remade, with the 'hold on to the vision' song - maybe recorded properly - once and for all - cause every version i have heard just had training sounds from the film overdubbed - maybe a cover by bon jovi, dave matthews or dragonforce would be sick.

i think 'out in the fields' by thin lizzy/gary moore would make a cracking montage song. that's what my montage song would be

Thats an awesome song buckland.

I don't know if its a montage, but in the karate kid, the end tournament when 'your the best' comes on, i love that scene !

Agree with the OP! I miss montages too! That's the best thing in some 80s flicks! No Retreat No Surrender, The Karate Kid, Rocky III and IV, etc.

NRNS has an awesome montage, but NOTHING bests that pathetic Rocky 4 montage. Rocky using nature and the Russian using technology, establishing the fact that the nature of the beast lies in your heart and you must get back to what's natural to summon those instincts.

That said, "Stand on your own/NRNS" was a great song.
