Anybody see this in theaters back in 1986?

If so, what was the experience like? Was there a lot of media coverage for the film prior to its release?
The theater that was showing it near my residence played it for a week before it got pulled. I'd love here everyone's thoughts on this :)

Yes, I saw it on New York's famed 42nd Street in 1986, on the Saturday morning of opening weekend. It was on a double-bill with something, as all features on 42nd were at the time. Although it was a low budget film, I loved the energy of the cast. I don't remember any media coverage. In face, I don't even remember why I chose to see this film over whatever else was playing at the time. Sometimes the theaters on 42nd street showed trailers outside in a kiosk on the sidewalk. That may have drew me in.
