In Defense of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2:Freddy's Revenge.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2:Freddy's Revenge is often criticized for being that gay Nightmare on Elm Street film and is also not considered good by most fans but to me I highly disagree.
I honestly I'm surprised by the amount of fans I hear don't like this film I always thought it was a Highly respected entry in the franchise till I started to interact with Elm Street/Freddy fans.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2:Freddy's Revenge has a very very solid beginning the film features a Dream sequence while not as atmospheric as the original's beginning this film still does offer a solid beginning with a false sense of security and dread in the air than we met up with Jesse as he wakes up.
The rest of the film features Jesse dealing with his father, girlfriend, best friend, & most importantly his sexuality.
I like how this film doesn't focus on just Horror elements you know Freddy Krueger could just kill Jesse and the People in his life and be a dull generic Friday the 13th like Slasher film this film dares to be a more Human Horror film.
Jesse's girlfriend Lisa shows nothing but understanding and caring for Jesse that's what helps her to defeat Freddy in the end her love for Jesse.
Jesse's father is the stereotypical father not dealing with his Child's self-awareness and coming to terms with his son's identity.
Jesse's best Friend Grady(My favorite character in the whole franchise) took him a while to befriend like any partnership would.
These characters all have their depths and layers to them but they don't overwhelm the still brilliant Horror elements.
This film while inferior to the original does have one thing the original doesn't have is that it's darker than it's predecessor.
Overall Nightmare on Elm Street 2:Freddy's Revenge is a brilliant Horror film that is way better than most people think and I actually prefer it over A Nightmare on Elm Street 3:The Dream Warriors.

Saw this less than a year or two after it came out on video back in the day, (spent my last $4.00 on it,lol) and watched it with my brother and stepdad, who were into horror films big time back then--I was too. I just thought the film was too damn gross, and like some people have said, it didn't make any sense in some parts, it wasn't even that good, and that scene with the man in the shower was like, "Huh? WTF?", the acting isn't all that great---in fact the only scene I liked was when Freddy came out to the pool party and scared the hell out of everyone there---that was about it. Also, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince had a funny hit song in 1988 called "A Nightmare On My Street" which, even though it's not on any soundtracks for any of the NOES films, directly references NOES2 by saying "You're got the body and I've got the brains." Here it is right here:

Your dead on the money Xen11.While Freddy's Revenge isn't my favorite of the series(that honor goes to the original) it's defiantly one of the finest members of the franchise.I really love you point of it being darkness combined with isolation that's very much accurate and I couldn't put the words down like that. The whole aspect that the whole Elm Street franchise uses the typical Slasher film outline but does something different with it makes it more than a man in a hockey mask or william shatner mask stalking dumb teenagers with a penetration tool is why I always preferred it over the others.
