Was the parakeet possessed by Freddy testing his powers inthe real wordl

The exploding parakeet scene... has that really been explained anywhere? I think when I was kid I just took it as the heat drove the bird crazy or something, lol, but upon rewatching it, I took it as it was actually possessed by Freddy...

After being defeated by Nancy in the first movie, Freddy loses the ability to kill in people's dreams, so his next plan is to possess Jesse to use him as vessel to kill in the real world, but he doesn't have enough power yet...

...so he tests his possession on the parakeet... that would explain the fire, its demonic attack on everyone, SLICING the father's face. It then explodes when Freddy's power is too much for the little bird.

This proves to Freddy that possessing a vessel in the real world is possible and then upgrades to Jesse.

Thoughts?

That scene always makes me laugh my butt off. Especially where the father accuses Jesse of putting a fire cracker on the bird which is just impossible since he would've had to light it in front of everyone in the living room. It also doesn't explain the bird killing the other bird. Plus a bird getting free and flying around a room is always funny.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

Yup. It should be noted that caged birds often go to sleep when you cover the cage. Therefore, the birds were sleeping when they were possessed. Which is kinda strange if you think about it because this means that 1) birds dream and 2) Freddy can invade those dreams as well.

his means that 1) birds dream

I don't know if it's been tested with birds, but I reckon everybody dreams.

I never took that scene to heart much, since the movie has many strange things happening. I love it, but it really threw the original film's bible out of window!
