Italian 'Fashions'

I love this movie this is probably my second favorite vacation movie after Christmas Vacation, but what I've never been able to understand is when the Griswolds go shopping for the Italian fashions and they try on all these really cute outfits and everything and then when they walk out of the store into the street, Audrey and Rusty are wearing some of the most bamma-fied, ugliest pieces of crap outfits. The only one who looked anyway presentable was Beverly D'Angelo. But Audrey and Rusty's outfits holy *beep* they are ass ugly and over-the-top even for the eighties! That's always bothered me.

It was supposed to be funny. The Griswolds were obnoxious, not-so-smart American tourists and they didn't exactly know what good fashion was. When they leave the store, Audrey tells Rusty, "you look cool" and he replies, "I FEEL cool!" Little did they know they looked like idiots! That was one of the funniest scenes in the movie!
