I haven't seen this in a while, but I remember the special effects for the T-Rex at the end to be ahead of it's time.
Almost as good as Jurasic Park, am I right?
Remember that up til then, they still used stop-motion for that kind of stuff (see Clash of the Titans).
Yes, the T-Rex in this film is one of the single best pre-Jurassic Park dinosaurs in a movie. Looks a little clunky when it's walking but when standing there and moving its upper body around, snarling, etc., it's pretty lifelike.
The part where it first steps into view is arguably the most chilling moment in the movie (to me anyway) and I'm especially fond of the part right after this where it bangs against the basketball goal and bends it out of shape.
