I mean, he doesn't exactly seem the type to leave a forwarding address. How would Wanda know where he'd gone off to or even where he was?
Come to that, how did Bobby Jack know where Emma and Jake were? They hadn't heard from him for a while - how did he find them?
Okay, I know it's just a movie, but this bothers me.
Well, he also doesn't seem the type to "clean up" before he goes...so he could have left something that told where she was. Figure he was ordered to pay some kind of child support - even if they weren't getting it.
Maybe some paperwork from the court about the child support came there after he was gone with Emma's info?
Maybe Wanda figured he'd go back there and got a private investigator on the job?
They make her seem simple when she and Emma are talking but again...driving that kind of distance on your own with two infants....she seems pretty competent otherwise.

Last night, I was lying back looking at the stars and I thought...where the *beep* is my ceiling???
Since Bobby Jack was married to Emma
and they had a son together,
I'm sure that he was still in touch
with some of her relatives.
He appeared to be quite charming
and persuasive, maybe he charmed
one of them (probably female)
with promises that he was going
to send his son, "Jake" something,
and needed Emma's address to do so.
Once he arrived at Emma's
Bobby Jack could've
share his whereabouts
with his family.
They, in turn
shared it with Wanda when
she asked them about
his whereabouts because
of the babies.
I wonder did he leave Wanda
before the twins were born
or afterwards?
Or did he even know that she
was pregnant?
He was an irresponsible man
who wanted an easy way out.
I'm so glad that Emma put
him to work when he arrived
and didn't fall into his arms again.
I believe thar she only allowed him
to stay with them because of their
son, Jake.
