Why did his wife drop dead??

She supposedly wasn't sick "a day in her life" and she then quickly dies ? What medical condition would be responsible for this?

Massive stoke most likely.

A brain aneurysm is another possibility. Yikes!

A Stroke

A stroke, brain aneurysm, even a heart attack can come on with no outward symptoms. These days, you don't hear that much about people just "dropping dead", but 20-30 years ago, it was more common.

People didn't go to the doctor for regular checkups and if they did, tests were only run if there was a problem. Many health problems were not diagnosed early enough for treatment.

And even as preventative medicine became popular, many older people felt it invasive and rejected it.

Yeah, 1985 was pretty much the Dark Ages. Heck, we were still using leeches and bloodletting and it wasn't until a couple years after that that we got 'lectricty and indoor plumbin'.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

LOL! Yes, I gave birth to a child in late 1984. Had him right in the field. Or was it on the kitchen table? Heck, it was so many centuries ago, I don't remember.

I have another question... in the scene where Sally asks the lady in the restroom if Murphy's wife was sick long - the lady says that Murphy drank the first year after, and then I didn't catch what she said about the second year?
