Just noticed a few things for the first time....

Over the past nearly-30 years, I have watched this movie an untold number of times--I have always liked Sally Field, I like the story and the snappy dialogue, and much, if not most, of the film was shot in Arizona (my home).

However, just watching it today, I noticed a few things I have not before:

1. Shameless product placement: KC Masterpiece--there is a white plastic pail on the flatbed in the horse auction scene with the KC Masterpiece logo on it. Also, on the kitchen table during the barbecue, while Emma and Murphy are chatting, there is a HUGE bottle with the KC Masterpiece logo on it. Amazing the things you notice when you watch a movie on a 55-inch TV screen (we just bought one :-) )

2. Also in the horse auction scene, Sally Field is wearing a belt buckle that looks like a rodeo champion belt buckle. I have read that she spent a lot of time around horses and ranches because of her step-father Jock Mahoney, and it suddenly occurred to me that might have been a belt buckle of his--but then it further occurred to me that perhaps Sally did some barrel racing at one time. Anyone have any idea?

You really couldn't see that KC sign on your smaller TV - do they even make TVs much smaller than 55" now? j/k - I know they do. Just that I don't know many people left with that small a screen.

I never have understood the aversion to some real logos in a film. Especially in a situation like this where it's not overdone. What about the Barq's root beer - does that bother you? You might need a big screen to see that one.

That's back when you can advertise just for the sake of advertising. Then it's was about what the directly wanted to use. Then it became about who paid for the sponsorship. And now everyone is either to cheap to pay or they want it for free.

According to the trivia, there's a lot of product placement in this movie.

And it wasn't covered up. It wasn't blurred.
