Why was she so set on showing him her breasts?

I don't understand. Even a kid can tell when someone isn't interested or doesn't want to see. Why was she so obsessed with him seeing her breasts even though it clearly made him uncomfortable. She even got to the point of being mad at him for it. I just don't get it. Usually girls are self conscious when they start developing. Sure maybe she was already maturing sexually, but why was she so pushy about it?

Indeed, she wanted to play 'I show you mine, you show me yours', hence the 'you have grown as well, haven't you' remark. Ingemar was afraid of that personal contact and ran away, which upset her.
