Loved this movie growing up and surely enough -- still love it now. Could this be the best B-Movie Vietnam film? The rat scene is great, the beginning where they stamp everybody M.I.A. is great and the flame thrower on the bridge is great. Anyway, definitely outshines it's the other two in the series. One of Chuck's best.
I love it how if any movie has guns and explosions, is how mrcranston put it, a 'load of right-wing crap'. I know this was made in the mid 80's and all, but I seriously laugh out loud anytime anyone labels movies like that.
Oh btw, I must say I love intelligent, thought provoking comments from a guy (if you look at his profile) who posted at least a dozen times on the 'Freddy Got Fingered' Board. LOL
Copy/Paste of what I just said about "Delta Force" and the same would apply to this movie:
Does every movie have to be a "masterpiece" or even try to be one? Arguably not. So let movie-makers express something that they want to say for whatever purpose it serves without giving a damn if it earns awards, but maybe just to capture the mentality of a particular culture at a point in time. Many American kick-ass movies made in the mid-80s (like Delta Force and MIA) helped some Americans to resolve their post-Vietnam depression, after having "lost" the Vietnam war and thereby no longer being the de-facto kings of the world (and in the process somebody sold lots of tickets to people who similarly wanted to see America "kick ass" once again). A movie like DF appeals very differently to people depending on when they were born and what their political view is. So in some ways it is now viewed as a silly joke, but for a lot of people who grew up in the shadow of the Vietnam war and experienced the cultural disillusionment of the late 70's (which begat things like the glossy escapist Disco movement) it served some real purpose in it's time. Now that I'm older and time has moved on I can see it both ways - as a slightly embarrassing testament to a now-outdated mentality, but as a once heartfelt expression of just wanting to see America regain its supremacy. I can now laugh at it, but can also understand where such movies came from on an American social-psychology level. Chuck kicks ass, but not for everyone.
You're talking about a movie that grew up in the shadow of Sly, and the Rocky series. This IS a B movie all the way, shot in Chuck Norris's backyard in California. Rumored, the actors from this movie(except for chuck of course) actually slept in the officers quarters, while the asian "C" actors slumbered in the movie sets American POW confinement paddy's, while Chuck just walked home every night swinging from the branches of trees kicking innocent squirrels and balds eagles nest down, there for killing their baby hatchlings on the way.
B grade. Doesn't matter when it was made. A dime store novel is a dime story novel. Very entertaining, but not a work of art. Nothing wrong with that. If you want to call it A grade because you liked it, that's okay too, but in the movie industry, it's B grade.
Defintiley not a B movie. If you want to call it a B movie becuase you think it is, that's okay too. There is no difference between this movie and the first Rambo movie. I don't think Rambo was a B movie, either.
Definitely not a B movie. If you want to call it a B movie because you think it is, that's okay too.
MIA with a budget of $2,550,000 and MIA 2 at $2,410,000, not to mention they were filmed back-to-back (so that each film could predate Rambo II and hence be dubbed "original"), and especially after Cannon Films ripped off James Cameron's story treatment of Rambo II in 1983. Oh, yea it's a B-movie.
NO, YOU IS DEFINITELY SUCK! See? I can type like a moron, too.

Did I say I care to debate the similarities between UNCOMMON VALOR and the second Rambo flick? No. I stated earlier that I wasn't going to debate that topic. I was sticking primarily to MIA and Rambo.

Yeah and that's why it's soooooo good, I'm a pure old fashioned french leftist and let me tell you right-wing crap movies > left-wing crap movies anyday of the week. Just watch Invasion USA or Rambo 2 if you don't believe me
I've got to see Invasion USA again, the memories all seem vague but very funny. Loved Red Dawn too! MIA 2 was my favorite of the trilogy, probably my favorite Norris film, although I will say overall at the time, I enjoyed many of his films. Definite B type material, but hey, I've watched a lot of Oscar stuff that I liked much less! I admit it, I'm a middle class white American man.
Watching it now on Reelz TV. Sure it's typical 80's action stuff (when Arnold, Stallone, Norris, Van Damme ruled) but it's a great popcorn movie. Guys are going to love it for the kick-butt scenes. explosions, car chases, etc.
Call it "right wing crap" some say. I just say lots of fun.
I dont think this is a good movie .Im a Vietnamese and also a VPA officer so i definately that this is not true , we are normal people not excutioners , not animal like what in the movie showed
