When someone does something on screen, it might be in the script for him or her to do that. He might have been supposed to run in a clumsy manner. Few reporters are also world class athletes, so he might have been supposed to run clumsily to appear like an everyday guy.
My mom did something like this once: You probably have heard of Nancy Allen, who played Chris in the movie Carrie, and Chris was the coolest girl in the school. In the movie Blow Out, she played a nitwit with a baby voice, and my mom imitated her and said, "Where do they get these bimbo actresses"? I knew she was only playing a part, because she usually doesn't act like that. Nancy also played Liz, the call girl in the movie Dressed To Kill. My mom made that comment when the movie was on tv.
