Some thoughts on Delerue's delicious music

Although I've never seen the film, I did pick up the score to it, which was recently released by Intrada Records. The reason for picking it up is that I am a huge Georges Delerue fan. This score is just a joy; it's very sweet and has a lyrical and light atmosphere, but also some great dramatic writing. The main title melody is just enormously catchy and such a joy to listen to. The release is really good too, with the music in superb quality and some nice liner notes. A very good score and a worthy release.

Any other thoughts about the music, or about the film? Is it any good, or can I better skip it?

What is the name of the Title theme? I can't seem to find it anywhere

The title theme is just called "Main Title". It appears in different guises in a lot of the tracks, but it is most fully developed in the "End Credits" cue. I don't know if individual tracks are to be found anywhere, but the CD containing the entire score was released by Intrada Records, in a limited run of 1.200 pieces, which sold out within days after its release. Some online stores will most probably still have some stock left though. For example: http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/M07555/maxie/

Varèse Sarabande Records also released the "End Credits" in rerecorded form on a compilation album, featuring many more themes and suites from Delerue's oeuvre. It's called Great Composers: Georges Delerue, but it's also featured on an earlier album, called Georges Delerue: The London Sessions, Volume Two. Both are great CDs to sample a small portion of typical Delerue beauty.

Hopefully the above information is of some use to you, but if you have more questions regarding availability you can always PM me.
