follow up movie

Just saw this film---it's funny how how the whole Max Headroom thing was so huge for a moment in the late '80's, but is pretty much forgotten now---MH was probably the first computer "meme", so to speak. Just curious as to why a follow-up film or series was never made for it in Britain, instead of the States---maybe it didn't get enough ratings when it first aired, or something like that? Liked the dark and gritty look of the film, and the two thugs who looked like they'd just walked out of a Mad Max film/plus the old punk rocker and the woman he worked with .
