best b-movie ever???

This movie has everything a good b-movie needs:
* an awesome title
* Hot women who get naked often
* a badass hero
* Lesbians
* terrible dialog
* lots of quotes
* Plenty of gore
* A slew of second rate characters, whos only purpose is to be slaughtered
* Horrible special effects
* Stereotypical villains
* Easy to follow plot for the drunk or high

I can't figure out why it isn't more popular among exploit-film fans. It seems like only people who are into cannibal films know about it. Any idea why? Its not exactly a cannibal film since the cannibals have such a small presence in the film. Its more of an adventure movie then anything.

I agree, it also has:

* great cheesy 80s theme music
* hilarious dummy/plastic crocodiles in the river fight sequence
* a magic shotgun that can be fired about 30 times without needing to be reloaded!

I also agree when you say it's not really a cannibal film (it's too different from the Lenzi & Deodato ones/doesn't have Ivan Rassimov/Robert Kerman/Me Me Lai) but it's more of a survival movie like '2019: After the Fall of New York' but in a jungle in 1985.

Right there with you (both) on all of that. Incidentally, some of the cheesy 80s music was actually recycled from Blastfighter, in which Sopkiw also starred.

I'll admit I've not seen Blastfighter (how readily available is it on DVD?) but I found the opening titles of said film on Ytube and ripped the vid, made an mp3 from it (like you say it's recycled music so I have the Massacre in Dinosaur Valley theme now... nice).

how readily available is it on DVD?

Not very. I think there's a German release, but I got my copy here: http://www.trash-online.com/main2.htm. (Click on "Genres" and choose ITALIAN ACTION & FANTASY PAGE 1.) It's not a great transfer but it does the job if it's all you can get.

I don't like it as well as I like this one and 2019: After The Fall Of New York, but it's pretty good for what it is.

EDIT: Here's a link to some information on the German release: http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fassung&fid=328&vid=258387. One of the soundtracks is English. Also, both www.amazon.com and www.amazon.co.uk have used VHS copies.
