I can't hardly watch the last 30 minutes of this movie

Its just so depressing watching everything fall apart for Rocky, Ben bails out of their trip to Europe together, Rocky finally gets a girlfriend and her parents take her away and wont let him speak to her, kids at school making fun of him. Then watching him taking out all the tacks in his map cause he knows he's never gonna go see those places. Then he dies in his sleep. It has to be one of the most depressing endings of any movie.

Its just really hard for me to watch it, i usually turn it off after he meets Dianna's parents. I just don't know why they made the ending so depressing, him dying was depressing enough, we didn't need to see everything in his life turn to sh!t beforehand.

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

It’s definitely a shattering movie, but at least Rocky ultimately finds love, as brief—and rife with complications (because of Diana’s parents)—as it is.

I agree, its very very sad. I cry every single time.
But I think the film shows all the depressing things because Rocky manages to remain strong, despite all that is happening to him.
Its supposed to make the audience cheer for Rocky, as well as feel sympathy for him.

Life sometimes just sucks, and this film shows this...but also shows how Rocky, Rusty and his friends do the very best they can despite it.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

I hate sad movies in general.

Oh yes. When he removed the map tacks. It destroys me every time. We've all felt that way. We've all been there, where the bottom falls out and you can't even see beyond the despair and defeat. SUCH A POWERFUL SCENE.

It was very emotional. It wasn't depressing because he left such a legacy in the peoples' lives around him. He died young, but managed to leave a great big impression.
