Which cut?

I'm watching the movie for the first time and it's the directors cut. Is this a good thing or should I watch the original? I say this because directors cuts can sometimes hamper that which was great to begin with, at least in my experience.

big difference with DC is addition of the springsteen music which had been stripped from the original release. i think it makes it better - the music fits with it instead of it just being music.

I prefer the original, but that may be because that's what I "grew up" with.

There are two differences: the original had the Bob Seger soundtrack and the director's cut had what he really wanted and had planeed: the Springsteen track. I wanted to like the Springsteen track, not just because it was what was originally planned but also because the real Rocky loved Springsteen (that's why they used his music) but I just like the Seger track better, especially "Roll Me Away" at the end. I thought the Seger songs they picked fit each scene they were used in really well.

The other difference is that the director's cut includes a few deleted scenes. I thought they didn't add much to the movie and again I prefer the originally released version to the director's cut.

The DC didn't really add anything for me. I thought it could do without the additional scenes. There was a musical number with Cher and Eric Stoltz that I didn't care for. I'll be sticking with the original from now on.
