A Skinemax classic

When I was a kid my parents made the mistake of choosing Cinemax over HBO and the even bigger mistake of hooking it up in my room.

Of course we all know that Cinemax was (is) lame. HBO got all the good movies (Star Wars et.) Cinemax however had a little thing called 'Friday night after dark'. A weekly soft core sp**k-a-thon. It usually consisted of stuff like 'Emmanuel in Bangladesh' or something, but then came 'Malibu express'. An honest to God American T&A movie without a hirsute French widow in site!

It's been years, and years since I've seen it. Quite frankly all I remember is Sybil Danning, a few bikini babes and some guy who looked like Perry King who slept with them all. Still, it stands out as the quintessential Cinemax movie of my youth.

Sure, the other kids could come in on Monday and talk about Fraggle rock, but I had Friday after dark.

They just showed this, (morning of July 1, 2006, in the U.S.A.), on Spike TV! I was flipping channels, and saw the title on my channel guide. I thought there was NO WAY, it was THIS, "Malibu Express". It was. Of course, all of the best parts were cut out. (I caught it over half-way through.) After he hooked up with his lady police officer friend at the beach house, and the killers were after them, they did show her in her wet tank-top, but blurred her nips.

It's not quite what I would term, "so bad, it's good", but for the 80's on Skinemax, for younger guys wanting to see some T and A, it was cool. There was NO reason to show it on Spike TV. When you cut it to play on Spike, you lose most of the reason to see it.

Ah, memories of younger days...

Yeah, showing it on Spike defeats the whole purpose! It's not like showing Scarface, where if they edit you can still follow and be interested in the story... The stuff they cut from Malibu express is the story!

You're right about this being the type of movie that teenage boys would seek out looking for a little T&A back in the day... Of course now there's the internet, so I'd suspect todays teenagers would think this movie was pretty tame.

Skinemax was a good thing. It's too bad that they don't do the Friday After Dark any more. They should have a channel to play those old 70's and 80's T&A movies all the time.

Impact plays a bunch of the Skinemax flicks. Wish they'd play "Bikini Bistro", "Dream Trap", and "Hollywood Hot Tubs".

Ahhhh, good ol' Darby Hinton. Best known for playing Israel Boone on Daniel Boone!!!! What a shock that was. Talk about going from dorky to hot as fuck!!!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪

You sure you didn't see it on Drive-in Saturday Night instead? That's usually when they'd air the Sidaris movies.
