What's Holding Up the DVD Release?

EVERYTHING gets a DVD release these days so it must be something.

This film gets screened at film festivals so there are prints floating around out there!

A region 2 DVD is coming out on May the 2nd by French company mk2. The bonus features include an interview with Van Sant and the trailer.

I'll definitely be buying this. A great film.

I didn't do much this afternoon, but I didn't some.

reply

This looks so good, I want it now!

If you knew I was dying
would it change anything?

reply

I had the chance to watch it on the big screen a while back. Greatest (cinematic) experience ever!

I guess it's time to buy an all-region DVD player. There are several films I would like to own that for some bizarre reason, are not available in R1 formats.

Also, I find that many R2 releases have way better special features and often the cover art is superior.

PS: Sunshine felines, I don't get your sig, is it a typo or something?

Such drama! Are you sure you're not Greek? - Queen Diana (Roar)

reply

Yeah, it's a typo made by a friend of mine. I just thought it was hilarious so I put it up as my sig.

I didn't do much this afternoon, but I didn't some.

reply

That's hardly a 'typo' - it was no ordinary slip of the hand, more like a slip of the mind, the natural outcome of a momentary intellectual breakdown. It's fascinating for the simple fact that it makes absolutely no sense (I'm only replying cause I hadn't seen this post before... and also cause I've just seen Mala Noche and it's awesome).

reply

I'm even more excited now that you've given your seal of approval

“He was bad, he was trouble and he was beautiful.”

reply

For the record, I do have some mild reservations about the film as a whole (you might, as well), but it's a joy to watch, regardless.

reply

I missed it at the IFC a month or so ago, so sad

We can discuss it once I buy it (upon Criterion release)!

“He was bad, he was trouble and he was beautiful.”

released yesterday in France on MK2 label. My copy on the way. MK2 are one of the technically finest DVD producers in the world so I have very high expectations for the disc.

Officially announced on Criterion's site:

Mala Noche is being released in October!

reply

criterion's october 2007 release...it was just announced!

reply

It's being released in a theater in NY this week (June 2007); my experience is that usually when an old(er) movie gets a theatrical rerelease in NY, a DVD isn't very far behind.
