Favorite 80s Movies Ruined by Saxophone Music

Not to say this movie is ruined by the music, but it does draw you out of it a bit, especially when the music is typically-80s sax and electronic stuff.

And this is a bit ironic since the first Mad Max had his wife playing saxophone for him, and it fit the tone of that movie, but here it just - doesn't work. Although I suppose maybe they utilized the saxophone (even working it into having a character playing in several scenes) as a callback to the first movie but still...

Anyway, let's start a list of otherwise great music in the 80s that had a bad score (particularly with saxophone music. And as a person who once played sax, it does have a place in music but I don't know what composers of the 80s were thinking.) Anyway, here's a few movies to start the list:

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Lost Boys
St. Elmo's Fire
At least one of the Lethal Weapon movies

More?

I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.

Yeah, I have to say the music seemed very "childish" or something, desperate to sound adventurous for kids... I just watched this again the other day because it aired on AMC and I just couldn't get past the score.

Can a Sax be heard in Star Trek 4?
Pretty sure it can.

80s Sax.
You know you love it.

The Asian guy who plays the saxophone for a little bit in the beginning? That's the only saxophone I can remember. Not really even apart of the score...

Just watched it again. Only heard sax in one brief scene. Didn't bother me.

Nothing wrong with a Saxophone, great sounding instrument, and it works well in this kind of film.

You also can't blame an 80s movie for being an 80s movie.. lol
