Went back and watched this after Fury Road. This should have been a better movie. Great idea for a the plot, good cast, but the execution reminds me of an Indiana Jones movie with the cartoon like characters and action sequences instead of a Mad Max entry. Sure Road Warrior and Fury Road had outlandish villains, but this seems like it was made for an audience that would still enjoy Dora the Explorer.

It was written to be PG13. previous installments were R18

Consider the time period when it came out, plus making it PG 13 makes it more marketable not to mention showing a large number of children in it.

Yes, it is. I think that without the MM name, I would be better appreciated like other cheesy 80s sci fy movies
