Best Albert Brooks Movie

Are you with me? Suuuure you are, because I'm right. "Broadcast News" would be first, but it's not really an Albert Brooks movie, now is it. It is, however, his best performance. I'd say "Defending Your Life" comes next. It's pretty cute, but it's still very funny. "Take a piss!" Great stuff. "Real Life" and "Modern Romance" are totally weird, but I still like them. Charles Grodin doesn't save "Real Life" - it was already pretty good - but he does make it a lot better. Watching Brooks in "Modern Problems" is like watching Woody Allen off his medicine. I have a hard time sympathizing for him because he's so insane in that movie, but it's still fun to watch. Some classic moments (the cokehound at the party offering to take his wife home). "The Muse" was a lot better than I expected...could've done better than Sharon Stone though. "Looking for Comedy..." was pretty trashy. Not going to lie. I spent so much money on that DVD, so it's especially hard for me to say. But it's true, and I'm sorry. Long story short, "Lost In America" is the best. I need to go pass out now.

Take a deep breath.

I love Lost, but I have to go with Modern Romance, as opposed to Modern Problems as you called it in your second wind.

Modern Romance epitomizes Brook's self deprecating humor. Notwithstanding the main plot, the subplots in the studio with Bruno Kirby, agonizing over the bowels of the ship, and the Hulk running, are classic.

I love Lost in America, but I will always defer to Modern Romance as Brook's masterpiece.

As far as Looking for Comedy, I've been watching it quite a bit on HBO lately, and it has a dozen or so classic Brooks moments.

Brooks plays off of the surrounding characters and his foreign surroundings with hysterical ease. I do tend to skip over his comedy routines because they are meant to be boring retreads of his material played to an audience that understands him no more than he understands them.

But the lead up scenes, such as Brooks interaction with the theater manager and lighting person, are classic.

I know it is totally off topic, but I think A. Brooks best work has been on Television with "The Simpsons"

My son and I will watch the rerun over and over with him as the comic villain Hank Scorpio. - "Homer, if you could kill a few people on your way out it would really help."

Also the Fat Camp Leader is top notch too.

As far as Movies I like the "Defending Your Life" and "Lost in America" best.

Thanks for letting me put in my 2 cents worth.
