As I watched this film, I was wondering how this kid could have been cast since his only acting talent is his ability to clench his jaw muscles.
Yes, he does make an otherwise underrated film difficult to watch. His lack of talent really stands out next to an acting heavyweight like Duvall.
Then I read on this site that he is the director's son. Ok, another of life's mysteries solved.
Nepotism often trumps talent. If there were every any doubts about it, just look at Sophia Coppola in
Godfather III.
