so at the ends, Railsback is in the stream of light w/ alien girl & decides to kill her with a spear -- I thought this was to break her spell on him.
But then they are bothj lifted forward toward space??
Is this because he truly was "one of them"?
And was she dead or not?
I thought it was an OK movie till the unclarified, abrupt ending.
Please explain?
There are lots of inconsistencies. I put it down to the scientists not really knowing what is going on and the Vampires lying.
Or perhaps she is the Head vampire, so not killed as easily. But the sword stopped being able to reap the souls, so she ascended bodily with Carlston.
Was he really a Vampire all along? May be. Might have just been a whimsical notion of the egomanical, world devouring alien.
All good Vampire stories are about Sex, Love, Obsession and Devotion....
Having completed the nineties, I am now attempting the next level....
Yeah the ending sucked... I didn't know what the fack was going on. Mind you it sat well with the movie, which is completely insane.

Actually if you look closely, just after Carlsen and the Space Girl get "beamed" back aboard the ship, those "force field" coffins are recreated and get filled with more then just their two bodies. I count a grand total of 9 unidentifiable bodies inside the coffins. They have a total onscreen time of 4-5 seconds.
So the bigger question is why would their be more bodies when only two beings of their "race" are still left?
I assumed it was because when she drew from him to awaken she gave some of herself to him (which is why he could track her) so he was collected along with her at the end of the film.
