Scary

This show is just scary. I don't know why I watch it every damn yr. Plus, Bass/Rankin explain the story of Claus in 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'...why make this LSD one?!

I found King Aqwa scary when I was young! I was scared of almost all of the immortal leaders. But now it's cool but kinda scary still since it's dealing with Santa's life in jeopardy.

Technically Santa's life's in jeopardy in a lot of holiday specials. Grandma got run over by a reindeer, Nightmare before Christmas, Santa Claus is coming to Town... It's just this is the first time you see him mortal, where he might die of natural causes.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he'll tell you the truth.

I thought it was very beautiful. You just need to keep an open mind. It was written by the author of The Wizard of Oz. In fact the immortal faeries in this story are the people who enchanted Oz to begin with if you read Baum's books.

You need to keep an open mind. I thought this film was quite beautiful. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad.

wait, scary? I watch this every year and laugh my ass off. Baum was on some really good *beep* when he wrote this. I'll conced yes when we were young, the immortals and goblin thingys were a little upsetting...except for the fact that the leader of the evil things was voiced by Panthro from Thundercats, and Odin...I mean, the Great Ack, sounded like Jaga... and I swear to god, one of the goblin things, the one that flies sounds like Rodan or Ghidorah and come seriously, these giant goblins (giant compared to some of the fairies) were running from sticks....STICKS... and a silver ax that shoots freakin laserbeams...I still remember, last year me and my wife got my friend to watch this, and his reaction was priceless. He was just staring at the TV, dumbfounded, and said this and I quote "I feel dirty, what the *beep* did we just watch again?" It was priceless... you had to be there.

Rankin/Bass were running out of ideas towards the end there and I assume crap like Pinocchio's Christmas was not well received so they took a chance and optioned a Baum book (they were big on classic literature) to get back to their roots to some degree instead of just making *beep* up and shoehorning it into their existing continuity. The result is pretty bad, not really child friendly and fairly sacrilegious... not surprising it was the last Christmas special they did.
