Only Shown once this year on ABC Family

ABC Family is showing too much non Holiday stuff in their 25 days of Christmas Lineup now. They are only showing some of the Rankin-Bass Classics once, and that really blows. Anyway, be sure to tune in to catch this classic.

Dec 13(Saturday)- 8AM EST - Definitely might have to use the DVR on this one with the early start time.

I feel you on thisa, wtf is up with Cars being aired? It's a funny and great movie but doesn't belong in 25 Days of Christmas. Nor does Harry Potter which is being aired this weekend! I liked it when it was Fox Family.

this is the worst time for my DVD-R Recorder to be on the fritz. I LOVE the Rankin Bass show and I need a copy on a DVD.

There are a lot of movies on ABC Family's 25 Days that have NOTHING to do with Christmas, but ABC Family doesn't CARE. They obsess over Harry Potter on that channel (13 nights of Halloween & 25 Days plus other times during the year).

We really need a real DVD release of Life and Adventures. This is the best one of the specials with that title.

I have it on dvd for trade of a rare film, send your rare film list to my e-mail address: [email protected]

I hear ya, they've showed Harry Potter marathons twice already and individual airings on top of that. The first Narnia movie I can understand because it has a lot to do with Christmas, but HP does not. The Rankin Bass Christmas movies specials have stood the test of time and are far superior to anything that has come out in the last decade. I've seen the kids these days watch those classics in fascination so shoving newer material for the sake that its new isn't necessary. The RBC specials are viewing traditions in december just like It's a Wonderfull Life, A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation(for me at least), and they deserve more than one airing a year.

I sympathize with ABC Family here. Let's look at it through unbiased eyes: They don't own the two most popular Rankin/Bass specials (Rudolph and the first Frosty). Of the remaining RB specials, how many are yearly viewing for most people? The Year Without a Santa Claus, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and the Little Drummer Boy? After that, the Rudolph and Frosty specials seem fairly well remembered and Nestor and Twas the Night Before Christmas have their fans and then...? The rest of the RB cannon is pretty unremarkable and unpopular. I doubt the network could really justify showing The First Christmas Snow more than once a year.

Plus, with DVD releases and DVRs and DVD-Rs and torrents how many people are actually reliant on TV for their favorite shows each year? I have everything I need for Christmas on multiple DVDs.

I think the point is that it's tradition to air them, and the fact that they are them only once, and at 7 AM for that matter, it's a little insulting. Even if they only plan to show these once, it should be in the evening.

it's still a business... if nobody wants to watch the quirky, slightly sacrilegious Santa special, how can they justify putting it on?
